A new life in dissimilar arena. Away from late nights with elite clientele in posh joints to a modestly furnished cosy two-bedroomed apartment overlooking the Dhanmundi Lake. She was yet to adapt to the variation of environ of the quiet retreat. Hardly had she the time to relax. Away most of the day, sometimes nights, she hardly could unwind in its comfy.

“You’ve to get accustomed to our way of life. Though I’m away most of the time, my general manager would take care of you. Of course, I’m on the phone anytime you need me” Ershad made his position clear.

She needed time to adjust to the new surrounds. Most of the time was spent in getting to the grips of her work. She hardly had the spare time.

Before parting, she had gone to meet Jyotikiran “There’s no money like in here”

“Want to try a different lifestyle” still not sure Jyotikiran would release her.

No farewell do’s, no weepy adieus, she walked out as silently as she was in. It was better to undo the tie to move ahead. Attachment gave an illusion of proximity.

Though Sahina, Roshanara, Saheeda wanted to get closer, she was purposely aloof avoiding their feminine curiosity especially of her past. The canvas had been erased. She felt no urge to patch it up. She focused on her new job.

“Sorry to bother” rustically handsome Firdaus, in his navy jeans and half-tucked white shirt with sinuous hair, dark mustachio, French cut stubble, reminded her of Che Guevara. His profound gaze spawned an odd magnetism, which she had intentionally overlooked.

“What’s it?”

“Boss asked me to timeline the sequences of my script for the local coverage on a compact budget. I’ve quite a few outdoors without which it would be incomplete. Need your help”

“I’m busy right now. Can only catch up after I finish”

“When?”

“Not before eight. I’ve to layout the full episode shoots for tomorrow before I’m off”

“Catch you at eight”

Soon after eight, Firdaus escorted her in the office transport to her den.

“I’ll stand the dinner” Firdaus insisted, as he fetched a take-away on their ramble back to the joint.

Freshening up after a quick shower, she slipped into a kaftan and joined Firdaus in the lounge “Drink? Though I’m aware it’s forbidden in your religion”

“I am not that loyal. Drinks and religion are poles apart” Firdaus smiled.

Slipping into the couch, she listened to Firdaus intently the sequence of the script “Let’s re-organise the sets…” she started sketching on the pad.

Firdaus realised her talent to integrate the bits and bobs from zilch to give it a complete form.
